  • Campus Energy Efficiency Program: Patrick MacArdle, P.E. has accepted the position of Program Manager for the Campus Energy Efficiency Program (CEEP), effective July 1, 2008. The CEEP is a vital new initiative that will establish energy efficiency as a permanent and prominent focus within Facilities Services. This program builds on the successful execution of the 2006-08 Higher Education Energy Efficiency Partnership led by Energy Engineer Raul Abesamis in Physical Plant, which resulted in over 20 projects that will avoid almost $1 million dollars annually in energy costs.

Patrick has worked as a project manager at UC Berkeley since 2000, specializing in science buildings and working closely with researchers across a range of disciplines. Projects include Warren Hall Replacement (Li Ka-Shing Biomedical Building), Campbell Hall Replacement and Le Conte Hall renovation projects as well as renovations for biology, physics, and chemistry laboratories and deferred maintenance of building infrastructure systems.

The Program will reach a broad array of activities to ensure that energy efficiency is a consistent goal for campus capital development and facilities operations. The position of Program Manager will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Project Management Rob Gayle. Patrick will work closely with Judy Chess, Assistant Director for Green Building Programs and PPCS staff.
